Con rod and crankshafts interchangeable?

Post by andyandy360 » Tue Sep 17, 2019 4:41 pm

Hello everyone,

Are the con rods and crankshaft the same dimentions for all the engine sizes?

Am I right in thinking the stroke is the same for 700 to 850 engines and the capacity is changed by the liners bore ?

Can i fit 700 cc engine rods in an 850 engine?

Thanks in advance

Andy

The pistons and liners are the same in both engines. 750 will have longer rods and a shorter crank throw I believe. You can swap out the crank and rods but you'll have changed the capacity.

You cannot swap a 750 crank with an 850 crank - the main bearings on an 850 are significantly larger than the 750 engines....

Take what Amam said - nothing (except that pistons / liners might be the same on 750 and 850 - I'm pretty sure somebody told me this but it's something I've never tried).....

I do know first hand that 600cc engines are pretty much unique. The 700cc engines were a complete redesign!
