Having searched extensively, I can find many references to replacing the timing chain when it is too stretched, but no mention of what is the normal amount of slack taken up by the adjuster ? The teeth on the cogs don't seem overly worn, and I have about 9mm of movement in the centre of the loose bit of chain with the other side tight.
Is this excessive, or normal ?
