Problems with metal slider on bottom of window

Post by Ianep » Tue Jul 17, 2018 7:51 pm

Having problems on a 1988 Rialto, Metal slider has disconnected itself from the actual glass window.

Does anyone know any way of re-attaching the glass to the metal slider, without shattering glass?

Could that could it be glued into place for example?

Thanks

The glass on mine was held in rubber, which, over the years, had dried out, rotted and the glass was no longer tightly held, so came out. I got some new rubber easily enough, but getting the glass and rubber into the steel channel proved all but impossible.

In the end I used a pair of woodworkers sash cramps, with some battens protecting the glass and channel plus WD40 sprayed over the rubber and to my surprise it went in without complaining. This was over a decade ago and it hasn't come out again!
