Rear brake adjusters

Post by Elephant88 » Fri Mar 08, 2019 6:27 pm

I am having trouble locking off the rear brakes, 10 inch wheel, the adjuster will not lock off at all, any suggestions on what would cause this would be welcome.

worn brake shoes,
I've had one set that winding in the adjuster and it went past the cone so the adjuster couldn't be wound back out.
it could also be sliding part of the adjuster seized or missing.

you need to remove the wheel and brake drum for further investigation.

Thank you will investigate, it's nice to get another opinion as where we live I'm the only reliant owner and a lot of the garages won't touch them.

You might need to buy new adjusters (the "corner lumps" on the adjuster cone can rust away so they are ineffective or the internal threads of the aluminium body can strip).

If so, look out for Triumph Spitfire/Herald ones, which are identical but often sold cheaper than "Reliant" branded ones.
